theres a big martian dust storm rn and its not clear if opportunity will survive

sci fi writers: humans dont care about robots

me, crying: OPPORTUNITY HONEY YOU CAN DO IT I BELIEVE IN YOU

Important clarification

1)  Mars Rovers have to run heaters constantly (especially at night) because Mars is cold and they have sensitive electronics.  Opportunity has had to shut down its heater because it hasn’t been able to draw enough power over the past few weeks; the danger is that Opportunity may not survive the few days its expected for the dust storm to clear up. The other currently operating rover, Curiosity is younger and has more advanced panels, batteries, and, most importantly, an onboard RTG (tl;dr: nuclear power source) that means dust storms aren’t as threatening to it. Opportunity has some radioactive heaters too, but they’re older, smaller, and have less power output. It’s survived dust storms in the past but every one is always a risk.

Ok so I’m gonna try to do a full post about the Avengers at pride, but I need to talk about trans!Peter and pride first

  • Peter shows up, in his suit, with a trans pride flag tied around his neck
  • His entrance would have made his dramatic iron dad proud
  • He swung in overhead and landed on top of a float
  • (That was kind of an accident but shhh no one needs to know)
  • People freaked tf out bc holy shit
  • Peter has a great time
  • It’s afterwards that’s a little harder
  • After, reporters are all over Spiderman being trans
  • Someone asks Tony if he knew Spiderman was “actually Spiderwoman”
  • Steve had to restrain him to keep him from ripping the guys head off
  • The second time it happens Tony actually decks the guy before anyone can stop him
  • They weren’t really rushing though
  • No one ever misgenders Spiderman to Tony again, though
  • The reporters try other team members
  • They ask nearly every Avenger about Spiderman’s transition and all the details, but none of them say a word
  • Steve actually goes on a long speech about how Spiderman has a right to privacy and they should be embarrassed to have asked such personal question, especially about a friend
  • They ask Bruce, thinking he’ll be on their side because ~biology~ but Bruce just goes on to lecture them about how gender is fake and made up
  • They can’t cut either off bc you don’t cut off Captain American or The Hulk
  • Eventually they stop asking
  • The one station that tried to make shit up about the whole thing got a cease and desist order from the Stark law team the morning after it aired
  • They had to make a public apology just to keep Tony from suing
  • Peter acts really embarrassed about it all, but honestly he’s really pleased that his teammates have his back
  • Also trans and nonbinary kids have started sending him fan mail
  • He becomes a massive trans advocate/public figure
  • He’s constantly going to protests, rallies, etc etc
  • Although he can’t support the community financially, he does what he can. When kids write to him about the trouble they’ve had, he writes back and tries to offer advice
  • (Though he pretends not to know, Tony has begun throwing money into programs for trans kids who’s parents weren’t accepting)
  • ((He loves Tony so much for it though))
  • Basically Peter is super lucky and he knows it so he does his best to give back
