here’s how the finale really went down:
- in his best man speech ted (finally) called barney his best friend, b/c you can have two best friends seriously, it’s very emotional
- the gang don’t know when they’ll get to hang out again so there’s lots of hugging and shit and they spout one liners about the importance of friendship and i cry a lot
- ted goes over to the girl with the yellow umbrella and the bass and that scene was mostly okay so it can stay EXCEPT
- the mother’s name should Matter right b/c why keep it a secret so long if it wouldn’t sooo her name is leia, like princess leia, and it’s a beautiful counterpoint to ted/stella and it makes sense they called their son luke but didn’t go the whole hog and call the girl leia if that’s the mother’s name — ted says “i’m ted” and she says “i’m…..leia [winces a little]. like the princess, i know.” and ted falls in love on the spot (shout out to kingslayerjaime i am accepting this as canon)
- barney and robin are in love forever and ever and they’d do anything for each other and yeah it’s hard w/ robin travelling all the time but they make it work, b/c home is wherever they’re together, and wherever the gang’s together
- although maybe they do settle down a bit eventually, but they absolutely refuse to live in the suburbs (ted and leia try to do a whole bit where they make the suburbs sound Super Cool but they’re both such giant nerds it has the opposite effect)
- lily definitely doesn’t have three kids, whoa, it’s hard enough juggling two kids w/ her emerging art career — she curates at an art gallery when they come back from rome, it’s pretty sweet, and eventually her own paintings start to sell
- marshall’s life is pretty sweet idk he doesn’t like corporate law but eventually he becomes a judge and stuff yeah marshall u can stay
- leia teaches ted what it really means to Love someone, and he realises that he was never really in love with robin, not how robin and barney were in love, but he loves leia with everything in him but in a healthy and happy way and she has to let go of max, too, and ted isn’t max but she’s starting to believe that maybe there is more than one person out there for everybody, and that maybe it;s okay to be happy — maybe she’s meant to be happy
- leia does die b/c there were a lot of hints leading to that and it’s super sad but ted is by her side all through treatment and he can’t deal with it at all, can’t accept that he’s spent so long waiting for her only for her to be taken from him, and leia tells him about max, the other love of her life, and ted learns that even though it hurts so so much he’s so lucky to have had leia at all, his soulmate, his other half, the girl who gets his stupid fucking jokes and drives out of her way to go to roadside attractions, and sometimes it’s hard b/c it’s hard to grow old together but they grow //together// and she sings him la vie en rose and he cries
- and when she’s dying leia takes ted’s hand and says “tell them how you met me. the long version. how robin and barney fell in love, b/c that’s where it really starts, right? tell them about my umbrella and about all the crazy stuff barney did. about marshall and lily growing up. tell them about the gang and how i somehow managed to needle my way in.” and ted starts crying (omg ted stop crying) and says, “you didn’t needle your way in, you were always part of the gang, we were just waiting for you. i was waiting for you.”
- and ted sits penny and luke down and says “kids, this is the story of how i met your mother.”
- and at the end luke and penny look at each other and luke says “what was that about the pineapple?” and ted says they never found out where it came from and penny says “weird, mom told us a story about a pineapple once —” (b/c you know leia is just as much of a storyteller as ted is)
- FLASHBACK THE NIGHT OF THE PINEAPPLE INCIDENT
- the mother was there
- she was the one that gave him the pineapple
- and that kids, is the story of how i met your mother

Concept: Maybe “neurotypicals” who consistently reblog post about autism and other mental disorders and illnesses because they relate to them actually aren’t neurotypical, and just don’t know it.
Even the ones who say, “But everyone does this!” might only be saying it because they do it, and therefore think everyone does, when that’s not the reality.
Like, I remember someone who very obviously had OCD saying, “Everyone gets constant, upsetting intrusive thoughts, and does things to make them go away! It’s normal!” and everyone who responded to them were like, “Uh… No, it’s really not. You have a mental illness.”
I hate how everyone is so quick to assume anyone who relates to their posts without having every aspect of their mental state listed on their blog is obviously an evil, appropriating neurotypical. Maybe they are technically neurotypical, but have one or two traits associated with whatever form of neurodivergence. Maybe they’re neurodivergent and just don’t feel like listing it. Maybe they think they’re neurotypical, and are in the process of realising that they actually aren’t.
Please don’t be so quick to judge. This gatekeeping helps no one.
This is an extremely important point.
I know at least one trans person who didn’t realize they were trans until they were talking about how much they relate to trans things. Only, it was in the context of being dismissive of trans people. “Oh, sure, of course you prefer those pronouns. Everyone does.” But that wasn’t a cis person being dismissive of trans experiences; it was a trans person not understanding that they were trans.
Same thing with a lot of mental illness stuff.
Honestly, if you relate to an experience, you have the experience. Doesn’t matter whether you have it for the same reason someone else does.
On a similar note that I was thinking about recently: perhaps some neurodivergent people who are dismissed by their parents have neurodivergent parents who don’t know it. Like, if your mom says “everyone has that” when you tell her about your depression, there’s a decent chance that she’s not minimizing you, she just has depression herself and doesn’t realize it.
Bless you all
Also important to note that not everyone lists these things on their blog.
Ive had someone angrily come at me in messages because I was reblogging BPD posts when I “didn’t have BPD” but when I explained that I do, in fact, have Borderline Personality Disorder, they were apologetic but that doesn’t take back the distress their ask caused. Same thing with gender issues.
Please don’t assume that everyone on tumblr is willing to list their mental illnesses on their sidebar like a badge.
Please don’t assume that everyone on tumblr is willing to list their mental illnesses on their sidebar like a badge.
special snowflake mental illness gatekeepers are the reason i choose not to be so public about my illness. it has taken years of fucking terrifying self searching and personal struggle to build a normal and functional identity and I don’t want your velvet ropes around how I handle my brain
There’s also…sometimes we reblog things for a friend. Because not everyone follows the same blogs, they might not see what we see. And we think maybe they’d want to see that post. And no, we’re not always gonna tag or ‘at’ a person who we hope sees a particular post, because they might not be out about whatever topic is in the post. Or we think they’d be interested, but not necessarily comfortable having their username attached.
today I recited Shakespeare to a small army of eight-year-olds
So last week an email got sent round my college asking if
anyone wanted to read some poetry to primary school kids and I was the only one
who responded and I asked if I could do some Shakespeare, since I have quite a
lot of experience with it, and the teacher said that would be fine.So I was discussing with friends what I should do and they
said ‘er yeah, don’t do Shakespeare.’ And I was like ‘what why’ and they went ’well,
maybe if they’re over 10 but otherwise you’ll just get blank looks’ and I went ‘well
I don’t want to insult their intelligence’ and then another friend was like ‘hey
you should do that kid’s song ‘When I Was One’, they’ll like that!!’ (it’s a really
babyish song for toddlers with silly actions) and I thought about it and was ‘like
nah actually, I’ll do the ‘Once more unto the breach’ speech’So I learned that over the week, and I was walking up to the
school, and the whole way I was thinking ‘Oh god this was a terrible idea they’re
going to hate it, they’re going to look at me blankly like those kids in The
Polar Express, my friends were right it’s going to be a disaster’, and I was
there early, so I sat in the classroom for the first half an hour, got given a
cupcake by some kids from a different class, said hello to some of the kids in
my class, they got a look at me.At half 2 the teacher mentioned I would be reading some
poetry, and I asked if we could go outside, which she was more than happy to
allow, and the kids were all so confused (‘where are we going? Isn’t it only
poetry?’) and we got onto the field, the teacher got them all to stand an arm’s
length apart from each other, so I could walk around them, and I did a brief
overview of where the scene came in the play, how the king is on the
battlefield, talking to his soldiers (“Could all you be the soldiers?” “Yes!!”)
and they’re attacking the French, who are all in a castle (forgot it’s really a
castle town), and they’re attacking them through a gap in the wall, the breach.
Me and the teacher emphasised that if there was anything they didn’t
understand, that was completely fine and they could ask me at the end. I asked
the kids to watch for when I held my fist in the air, which is when they had to
cheer loudly, we had a practise at that, and then I did the speech.Everything I had been scared about evaporated. All the kids
were totally engaged, they were all watching me, they all listened right the
way through, I saw lots of excited faces, and they all cheered really well at
the end.Afterwards, there was a lot of chatter, several of them
asked me questions (”how do you remember all those words?”, “what did you mean when you talked about nostrils?”), one boy asked me to do it again, they were all really
lovely and had genuinely enjoyed it. It was so much fun, and they especially
loved it when I told them how my big college friends had told me not to do
Shakespeare because they wouldn’t like it. Those kids 100% proved them wrongBless this post.
YES. THIS.
I once took excerpts of Midsummer to do with a group of 8-12 year olds for a week-long summer camp. My TA went “You can’t be serious.” But once the kids had their translations and knew what we were talking about, they took it and freaking RAN. They knew everything they were saying and what’s more, they enjoyed doing it. Kids NEED to be exposed to it before they’re old enough to form the mental block that it is too difficult.
Yes yes yes
We saw that #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend was trending on Twitter and thought… doesn’t he already have one?
did bbcthree just make a rom com au stucky fanvid?
the only cheat is that there is sam wilson in the cover image and none in the boyfr category i protest
Shakespeare was queer? I thought he only had affairs with ladies. What dudes did he get it on with?
OH U SWEET SUMMER CHILD
so remember those sonnets, you know, about one hundred and twenty-six of them, the whole thing about “shall i compare thee to a summer’s day”
written to a hot male earl, dude
in 1640 some asshole named john literally had to change all the pronouns in those 126 sonnets because they were super fuckin queer and he was not comfy with how super fuckin queer they were
also, like, casual elizabethan bisexuality? christopher “they who love not tobacco and boys are fools” marlowe? the venetian “tit bridge”, where prostitutes were commanded by official decree to stand around topless to entice men who were bangin’ too many dudes, because there were so many gay men it was becoming a legitimate social problem?
welcome to the wonderful world of “literally everyone in the past was queer”, friend, enjoy your stay
lesbians dont have the male gaze men have the male gaze thats why its called the male gaze and not the “likes girls” gaze
James Reynolds might be my hero. Is that wrong?
Wait. But what if Future Bitty has a food television show? And he, like, specializes in game day snacks that somehow taste amazing, but don’t make NHL team nutritionists mad. And the end of every episode is a montage of him sharing the food with the Falconers and footage from him cheering at the game. And some weeks, he invites Jack to the show, and Jack is still hopeless at cooking, but the fans love him.
what if this just??? crushed my heart and i DIED????????
also i want everyone else to show up on his show too but in like. very random capacities
like maybe the show is filmed in his apartment
(jack’s apartment lol??? im cryign)and so like, lardo just pops in & is like “whoops sorry” & ducks out of frame & is gone for several minutes (there’s one incredibly loud BANG! in the background and then utter silence for ~30 seconds) so bitty tries to go on with the show & then lardo comes back in dragging this massive block of solid metal across the floor & bitty and everyone in the crew just. watches her do this silently for an unbelievably long amount of time (one of the techs eventually helps her carry it out)ransom & holster bursting in singing that thing from tarzan “THE FUUUUUN HAS ARRIIIIVED”
shitty just sitting at bitty’s counter eating food as it is prepared, bitty occasionally smacking his hand away (he’s baked off his ass & just sitting silently & eating; occasionally spouts some tidbits of feminist theory or history or whatever)
and jack. oh god. jack, after he comes out & is open abt his relationship w/ bitty, appearing on the show in a purely domestic capacity, walking through the kitchen on his way to go for a run, dropping a kiss on bitty’s head, stealing bites of food (stealing kisses when bitty turns to reprimand him)
and then maybe there’s a thanksgiving special or smth & the whole samwell team comes over, all of the members from all four years of bitty’s samwell career, as well as the falconers, and george, and jack’s family and bitty’s family, everyone in jack’s massive apartment around a huge table eating bitty’s food & being happy and mE, ON THE FLOOR, SOBBING FOREVER,
It all started in the pre-season, as most things do. The Falconers don’t know much about Jack Zimmermann, (“He has said 3 non-hockey related words in all the time I have known him. Two of them were ‘eh’.” – Snowy) but they do know one thing: He is. Always. On. His. Phone. Lunch break, before skate, after skate, texting, talking. Tater chirps him about his girlfriend, but Tater chirps everyone about everything always. So, most of the guys on the team just leave Zimmboni to his own devices.
Then, one day before morning skate, Jack walks into the dressing room and says, ever so casually,
“Hey, y’all.”
