I believe it’s important to eat well, even when you’re strapped for cash. It’s good for your health and energy! This cookbook is full of delicious and healthy recipes, the ingredients of which are fairly inexpensive.

(just to give you an idea, my food budget is 30 euro/week at most [about $38] and I have to maintain a healthy diet due to weird medication side-effects and yeah, basically this book is a lifesaver if you’re broke but need to watch what you’re eating)

A character makes an assertion, then cut to the narrator contradicting it (‘“Everything’s fine!” Everything was not fine.’)
First-person narrators who call a specific character by a series of increasingly convoluted nicknames
Unusual narrative euphemisms. I still hold that describing around a curse word is almost always funnier than just using the word.
Establishing character moments which subvert your expectations right from the get-go. The best example is in the Brooklyn Nine Nine pilot, where Jake’s fooling around at the crime scene before revealing that he’s already solved the case.
Montages. Just montages of any kind, for any reason, anytime. I actually think they work better in text form because you can do so many creative things with them.
Side characters with a level of fourth-wall awareness / quasi-supernatural ability which is never quite certain, like the janitor in Scrubs.
Double meanings in narration that take a while to make themselves clear.

Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst — princess engaged to the prince of a neighboring land falls for his sister, romance and angst ensue. LOVE this one!
The Second Mango by Shira Glassman — a lonely newly-crowned queen goes on a dragon-riding road trip with her bodyguard to find a girlfriend (a girlfriend is, of course, obtained)
Once by Julia Heslin — a wannabe fairtytale beast kidnaps a young woman, forcing her girlfriend to step into the role of brave knight to rescue her
Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova — a girl trying to banish her magical powers accidentally banishes her family instead, must go on a journey to save them (bisexual love triangle)
Unburied Fables by Tiffany Rose — an anthology of short fairytale retellings, various lgbt+ characters (not all of them wlw)
and also there’s a bunch i know of and still need to read that i’ll list!
Never delete. Never read what you’ve already written. Pass Go, collect your $200, and keep going.

Special note: “Kill someone” means kill someone in the story. Please do not kill random real life passers by every time you hit a block. My lawyer says misunderstanding writing advice is not an acceptable defense. See you all in 25 to 50 years.
Yep, this is a real problem. From a design stand point it saves fabric and time since you don’t have to add any darts or pockets, and they go with the premise that a flat square shape should fit everyone without having to make much changes to the pattern (except to make it bigger or smaller). This whole one-size-fits-all mentality in fashion is so flawed, and actually impractical, it really annoys me how teachers let it slide in college and how the apparel industry continues to spew it year after year.
