poc!potter makes so much sense though

think about it: petunia and vernon /hated/ james potter, made up stories about him “probably being unemployed” and they seemed to thoroughly dislike him for more than just the magic. how much d’you wanna bet me that their prejudice may have been on the racist side? they treated harry pretty awfully, even considering his magic. they hated that he looked like james as well.

plus, harry has “great skin” but no specified skin colour or tone or anything!

draw and write about east asian harry, south asian harry, black harry. draw harry potter in every single race there is.

poc!potter is not really a racebend bc it’s all within canon

like, aunt marge has no idea about magic or anything and she clearly hates harry, and seems to be able to make generalisations about ‘harry’s lot’ despite never having met his parents and not knowing anything about them.

it would make more sense as to why people keep commenting on him having his mother’s eyes and dark skin and green eyes are a rarer combination than light skin and green eyes.

harry’s grandad made the family rich by inventing a potion that straighten’s hair, the one hermione uses in book 4, that’s a product way more likely to be used by poc, especially black poc like hermione, and so is more likely to come from a poc who noticed the demand in the market as it was relevant to them,

it would explain why no muggle ever investigated harry, why his teachers and other adults were content to let him be bullied and abused, because the area where he grew up is clearly very right wing, (voted tory/ bnp likes the EDL kind of place) so a mixed race kid is way more likely to be ignored.

it also add’s an extra dimension to Harry’s love for the wizarding world, the way he overlooks a lot of it’s flaws, because not only is it the first place he is loved but it’s also the first place he doesn’t have to deal with racism (at first at least)

ideas to continue the HP craze without compromising its original story and characters

harrypotterconfessions:

  • A history channel style documentary where each episode talks about a different subject and each season is a different wizarding culture. Season 1. Japan. Episode 1. The Founding of Mahoutokoro. Episode 2. Their magical robes and why the rest of the world didn’t incorporate a similar system. ETC.
  • History of Magic online classroom/videos ; Professor Binns Or maybe a Bagshot can tell us all about the Goblin Rebellion and what happened at the International Warlock Convention of 1289.
  • A political drama series set in the Ministry of Magic, preferably not during LVs second rise to power but maybe his first, with only small cameos from the likes of the Order Members that we know. Like, give me Dorcas Meadows and the Prewett brothers instead, maybe touch on Crouch’s frustrations that eventually lead to him allowing unforgivables to be used. Maybe just not during LV or the Trios time at all.
  • MoM/MACUSA Elite Force action type show (seriously why didn’t they actually make this a thing)
  • Netflix Dramedy about Wendelin the Weird and the Salem Trials and how continuously getting caught probably kept the hunt going for longer than it would’ve otherwise so she inadvertently caused a lot of muggles to die and how will she handle that?
  • Plz Add. but nothing about the marauders. or any original characters from the story because that can compromise them

period drama about the founding of Hogwarts, following these four young friends as they wander around medieval Europe and try to learn how to magic and how that leads to them making an entire damn castle with moving staircases and secret tunnels and shit- extra points if we see the castle get built up as Various Douchebags try to attack the school/tear it down

a muggleborn student coming to hogwarts with a thermos flask and filling it with tea in the morning so it stays hot all day and their pureblood friends are like “whoa what spell did you use for that” and they’re like “?????? it’s just a thermos???” and all the pureblood students start pointing their wands at cups and saying “THERMOS”

THERMOS

plot twist: it works, mugs suddenly start keeping tea at the perfect temperature for the caster all day. students in muggle studies start experimenting with other muggle jargon and a new generation of magic spells are born, propelling the stagnated wizard community into the technological age

*points wand at book* KINDLE!!!! *book propels itself into fireplace and bursts into flames* I FUCKED UP I FUCKED UP

so i may have written a fic about this

this is the best thing that’s ever happened to me omfg

I like to think that Rita Skeeter totally lost whatever renown she had after the war and so Harry and Ginny and the others like to pick up her stories for fun without worrying about the effect it’ll have on their image? Like Harry just idly turns a page every morning and goes, “Oh, we’re getting a divorce.”
And Ginny yawns as she fetches two coffee mugs and says, “Is it because I’m snogging Neville?”
“No,” says Harry, “it’s because I’m snogging Neville.”
And Ginny slams down her mug and says, “Goddamnit, Harry, let me have my affair in peace, would you?”

They have this sort of conversation in public, sometimes. Especially in places (the Leaky Cauldron, the Three Broomsticks, etc) where they know that it’ll get back to Skeeter.

I like to imagine that the kids get in on it as well. Like Albus and Scorpius can be over heard in the Great Hall with the latest Potter Family gossip

“Did you hear that your dad is leaving your mum for my father?”

“I thought mum was leaving dad for your mum, Scorp?”

“No that was last week. Your mum is with your aunt Luna right now.”

“Ah, my mistake. Pass the pumpkin juice.”

pros and cons of hufflepuff house

pros:

  • the best damn friend you could ever ask for
  • hard working as hell and will get the job done
  • open minded and caring, and willing to prove it
  • they give people the benefit of the doubt and care first, but if you prove to be a dick they will turn on you so fast
  • sass queens
  • the best at researching problems and solving them logically
  • the most respectful kids you could meet

cons:

  • too willing to give second chances
  • grudges that last for a thousand years if you cross their friends
  • self sacrificing
  • big on the “don’t fight hate with hate” movement
  • they’re really hard working so if they set their minds to something they might end up running themselves and others to the ground because of their goals
  • stubborn and opinionated, even if they’re open minded no one will talk the out of their beliefs
  • least likely out of the houses to understand why someone might want to break ties with others
