things i like about malec on the show:

  • the instant attraction from both and shameless flirting from magnus that quickly turned into quiet concern when he realised alec wasn’t out
  • the mention of magnus and camille being an item before they’d ever even met, ensuring no weird jealous blowout down the line
  • again magnus making it clear he is interested in both men and women right at the start ensuring no weird biphobic shit down the line
  • magnus consistently recognising and never undermining alec’s role as a leader
  • alec’s shy interest but confusion about someone being interested in him above anyone else (I CRY)
  • the development and exploration of their separate lives and the struggles that both of them face beyond their attraction to one another
  • magnus not once touching alec without alec’s permission/alec being the one to initiate it
  • alec being upfront about his proposal to lydia and his reasons for it
  • the fact that magnus still helped out with izzy’s trial even though he was hurt because it was the right thing to do (my warlock son is so Pure)
  • even though magnus was acting a lil salty and hurt after the engagement news his goal was and always has been to help alec find happiness within himself thus trying to convince him marrying a woman was not the answer
  • magnus coming to the wedding but giving alec all the power to call the shots
  • letting alec know that he would leave if that’s what he wanted
  • the way he waited patiently for alec to descend that aisle and make the first move
  • giving alec a second to breathe after he breaks the kiss and STILL not initiating anything because the moment was entirely about alec and his agency
  • even during an episode all about them magnus’ whole existence doesnt revolve around The Boy (aka literally “my visit tonight wasn’t all about him”)
  • EVERYONES LOVE AND SUPPORT (we dont talk about maryse)
  • alec clarifying that dude of course theyre not in love yet which only draws more attention to the fact that it was never about choosing magnus but rather choosing himself and his happiness and his freedom and his mental health. ALEC LIGHTWOOD SAVED HIS OWN LIFE AND I AM TRULY ALIVE
