I hope you weren’t looking for something more elaborate but I really have no clue how this meeting would play out except for Gabriel learning that Marinette is studying to be a fashion designer and just “huh *satisfied and slightly impressed nod* my son’s got pretty good taste in women”

¯_(ツ)_/¯”

Hm. She was fairly attractive, not an embarrassment at the very least. He could see what sort of charm she might have over someone like Adrien. She had a sort of unease about her but he wasn’t surprised, he made it his business to have the edge when encountering new people, whether clients or his childs current infatuation. However despite his usually innate intimidation she wasn’t backing down either. He could easily see that Adrien was very uncomfortable, but she was taking his long calculating silences in stride.

“So you’re a student Miss Dupain-Cheng?” he asked after a time, steepling his fingers and watching her closely. He could see Adrien fidget and he fought the urge to shake his head. He was only talking to her, it was as if his son expected him to shout.

“Yes sir,” she replied easily, meeting his gaze without flinching. Good girl.

“Your area of study?” he asked coolly, his tone betraying the only kind of interest that came from the intent to gather usable information.

“Fashion Design and textiles sir.”

Hm. She was actually following a notable pursuit, and that must mean she was well aware of his business. And to know that and still state her passion must mean she had a certain amount of confidence.

Perhaps she would be a fine suitor then, it wasn’t as if he had many others in mind and he would very much like to avoid adding the Bourgeois to the Agreste family name.

“Very well,” he said finally, leaning back and waving at the pair dismissively, “you have my permission to marry.”

Both of them stiffened, burning red as Adrien shouted, “DAD THIS IS JUST DINNER”
