ok i said i wouldn’t talk about the inauguration but y’all i cannot emphasize enough how eerie and weird it is to see the mall that empty it is beyond words i had a class that literally studied DC as a political stage and we saw scores of pictures of the mall covered in people for protests/events and i’ve visited the city for the cherry blossoms and the kite festival and the book festival and everything and i have never seen it this bizarrely empty for an *event* it is genuinely unsettling and hilarious
