gender-ambiguous burr casting/costuming where the reason everyone keeps saying “sir?” after “burr” is because they’re not… entirely… sure?

and burr just smiles and continues like nothing happened

“are you aaron… burr… sir?”

This sorta reworks one of the lines from the reprise of The Story of Tonight for me:

“It’s alright, Burr. I wish you’d brought this girl with you tonight, Burr.”
“You’re very kind, but I’m afraid it’s unlawful, sir.”
“What do you mean?” (Internal monologue: “Oh shit am I finally going to get an answer here? Is it a forbidden same-sex romance thing? Because Laurens and I…”)
“She’s married.”
“…I see.”(Internal monologue: “Well, that doesn’t clear up anything.”)

Which leads to Hamilton finally admitting “I will never understand you.”
